Following the liberalisation of the domestic electricity market, the wholesale electricity market in Hungary began to develop dynamically, consistent with the practices of developed Western European markets. MVM ONEnergy Ltd. (formerly MVM Partner Ltd.) has been an active participant in this market segment from the outset, and over the years, it has become a dominant player, enabled by its strong portfolio of contracted domestic power generators. Our trading activities serve as a link between generation, consumption and the wholesale market. Our core competence lies in managing risk exposure originating from our power plant and consumer portfolios, as well as in meeting the needs of our wholesale partners in both the organized energy markets and over-the-counter (OTC) markets. In the commodity market, we optimize both the assets belonging to the MVM Group and our contracted assets, and we also conduct proprietary trading activities. Our advanced risk management tools provide the principal framework for the company's trading in commodity market products.
Our goal and mission is to establish and maintain a strong regional market presence. We are active in wholesale trading across Europe, with centralized management. We trade on numerous European exchanges and OTC markets through our Budapest headquarters, ensuring the ability to respond quickly to price changes at an international level, while optimizing the electricity flow between countries in the region using the assets at our disposal.
Our wholesale activities cover all timeframes of the electricity market at the regional level: from intraday products to long-term (over a year) standard and customized products.
We play a key role in supplying universal service users. The security and price stability of the service are important considerations for us, therefore MVM ONEnergy Ltd. has developed an efficient purchasing and sales portfolio to mitigate unforeseen market impacts.
The portfolio is based on a multi-year framework agreement system, which secures the procurement of a product structure needed to supply universal service providers, while ensuring that the requirements of universal service licensees are met as expected. Within these framework agreements, annual trading contracts are concluded on both the purchase and sales sides. An integral part of fulfilling these contracts is maintaining continuous contact throughout the year, managing changes and jointly resolving unexpected situations.
This structure ensures not only supply stability but also efficient risk management, encompassing all elements of market activity and mitigating any severe impacts that would be difficult for end users to absorb. In addition, it ensures the expected level of security of supply for several years.
Thanks to its strong wholesale activity, MVM ONEnergy Ltd. manages the largest balance group in the MAVIR network. As a result of our international involvement, our balance group management activities have now taken on a regional dimension, with our own balance groups in several of the countries where we trade.
