2001 - 2003
From the very beginning, the strategic
goal of MVM Hungarian Electricity Company Limited by Shares was to play an
active role in the Hungarian and regional electricity markets, to maintain its
strong domestic position and prepare for the opening of the competitive market
on 1 January 2003.
In the first half of 2001, the Consumer Sales
Department was established within the Trade Directorate of MVM Ltd. to prepare
for the new market environment.
Subsequently, on 5 September 2002, MVM Partner Energy Trading Company Limited
by Shares was established with a share capital of HUF 50 million, starting its
actual operation on 1 January 2003, in the partially liberalized Hungarian
electricity market.
2012
On 1 July 2012, MVM Group’s two
trading subsidiaries, MVM Partner Ltd. and MVM Trade Ltd., merged and continued
activities under the name MVM Partner Ltd. The purpose of the merger was to pursue
operation as a unified and strong market player in the wholesale electricity
market.
2013
On 30 September 2013, MVM Hungarian
Electricity Ltd acquired the natural gas wholesale company owned by E.ON in
Hungary, and thus established Hungarian Gas Trade Ltd.
Consistent with the National Energy Strategy, this transaction advanced
Hungary’s energy security and contributed to its long-term economic growth.
2014
In addition to supplying natural gas to domestic
universal service providers, natural gas traders, large consumers and power
plants, our Company committed itself to capitalising on new market
opportunities in a changing environment, with the aim of strengthening its
regional market presence. To achieve this goal, it established MFGK Austria
GmbH in 2014.
2015
MFGK further expanded its regional presence in 2015 and
established its Slovakian subsidiary (MFGK Slovakia s.r.o.), thereby
strengthening its position in the Central European energy market.
2019
At the end of 2019, the national
energy holding company decided to reorganise its electricity and natural gas
retail activities in order to provide a unified customer service. As part of
this, the competitive retail business lines were transferred from MVM Partner
Ltd. to NKM Energy Ltd. in April 2020. Simultaneously and in line with the MVM
Group’s long-term strategy, MVM Partner Ltd. became the exclusive provider of
the Group’s wholesale electricity trading services.
2020
In 2020, MFGK established subsidiaries in Croatia and the
Czech Republic, further strengthening its regional presence and market
position.
The Czech subsidiary was set up in connection with the acquisition of MVM
Group’s innogy business line, to ensure the supply of customers in that market,
while the Croatian subsidiary was created to connect to the Krk LNG terminal
and to support the development of LNG activities.
2021
As of 1 July 2021, Hungarian Natural Gas Trade Ltd
continues its operation as MVM CEEnergy Ltd. On 1 January 2021, MVM CEEnergy
booked capacities at the Krk LNG regasification terminal in Croatia for a
period of nearly seven years, further enhancing the diversification of its
supply sources and the security of Hungary’s energy supply.
2023
In 2023, MVM CEEnergy proceeded to expand its regional
presence and entered the Serbian market through a joint venture with
Serbhungas.
The aim of the partnership is to strengthen Hungarian–Serbian energy relations,
promote cross-border natural gas trading, and contribute to the region’s
security of supply and market integration.
2025
In
2025, MVM CEEnergy established a subsidiary in Bulgaria, broadening its
regional presence in Southeast Europe.
On 1 November
2025, MVM Partner and MVM CEEnergy merged to form MVM ONEnergy.
